Hi Tweets,
At the same time there's an apparent Caspian Tern (CATE) flood in the
Seattle area, they seem to have virtually vanished in the last week or so
from Iona Island in Vancouver BC where they were common at any tide state,
nor have heard them heading over the house from Spanish Banks (Outer Burrard
Inlet) to Iona as until a couple of weeks ago, they did at a
several-times-a-day rate. Can't speak for other Vcr sites as Iona & Spanish
Banks are the only CATE sites accessible in bicycle range with these old
baseball knees.
Other birds gone from Iona in Week 3 July are the Yellow-headed Blackbirds
which brought off several young, but were, I discovered just this week,
drastically down from last year in number of territorial males (only two,
this year) in the Outer Pond.
