I also use only upside-down feeders and wire cages for suet, but the
crows get it anyway. They gather in a group under the feeder. One flies
up and knocks a chuck off, which the others then eat. One bird will do
this several time, then another will take it's turn. Also, I have
observed crows stand on the branch a wire cage feeder is attached to,
grab the chain to pull the feeder up to the branch, grasp the cage with
one claw and eat the suet.
I continue to be amazed at the intellegence of these birds!
