Dear Tweeters,

We finally have the overall tally for the Clallam Co./Olympic Peninsula
Audubon Society Birdathon from May 10th. Our final tally comes to 178
species, which we think may be a record one day total for a county in
Washington. Is this so?

We have chased down several unusual sightings, questioned observers,
rejected some sightings, and accepted others. Overall, we have learned a
great deal about our county's avifauna, which, needless to say, is
remarkably diverse. We think we did very well at covering the county's
habitats, having a total of 51 parties reporting their results, from La
Push on the west to Diamond Point on the east. The one habitat we did
not cover was pelagic waters off the west coast, so more may be possible
(no procellariforms on our list, for example).

Sorry this appears to be old news, but hopefully it is noteworthy,
nonetheless.
