On the subject of Harriers, is it just me or does it seem like female
Northern Harriers vastly outnumber males. I have noticed this in all three
of my personal historical birding locales (the Clearwater River Valley in
Idaho, around Bozeman, MT, and the Florida Gulf Coast). Maybe this is just
common knowledge and not even unique to Harriers, i.e. in some species one
sex outnumbers the other.

Any answers??

Fascinating information on harrier prey, Tweets.

I've wondered, watching the low and slow hunting cruise of harriers, why
they seemed to be getting so much respect. Everything along the coast line
rises up in alarm, more so than for a bald eagle. They have delicate little
feet, but apparently get the job done.
