Hi All,
In response to Ted Becker's post about the sick Pine Siskins, I had House
Sparrows (2 or 3) with the same symptoms. And when I got to see the
Gray-crowned Rosy Finches at a house with feeders outside Bishop, CA, the
lady who feeds them has noticed the same thing in a few of these birds as
well. I saw one at her feeders that day, sitting on the ground, all
fluffed out and lethargic. It bobbed its head as if trying to cough
something up, too, occasionally. She feeds them shelled sunflower seeds. I
wonder if diet plays any part in these illnesses ?
