Hi Tweets,
I , as well as many others have experienced PINE SISKINS dropping dead at my
feeders, or in close proximity. I have kept my feeders as clean as possible
as well as scrubbing out the birdbath regularly. Although I haven't seen any
sick siskins in the last 3 or 4 weeks, I'm just waiting for the round of new
little ones to become exposed and then ultimately become ill as well. Does
anyone out there know anything specific about this disease such as what
percentage of birds actually die from it, how much worse are we making the
situation with our feeding practices and is there anything else a person can
do to stop the spread? I , personally have observed
no less than a dozen sick birds just this year. It's heart wrenching to
watch them suffer. Thanks in advance for any response.
