Hi Tweets,

Several people have asked for directions to the Mountain Quail place:

From Seattle (the way I went)

Take I-5 south to Tacoma, turn north on 16 just past the Tacoma dome,
cross the Tacoma narrows bridge. Continue north past Gig Harbor, go
left (west) onto 302 at the Y, then take a left (west) and cross the
causeway toward Wauna. Continue on 302...turn right (north) onto 94th
Ave. NW and go north to the Port Orchard Airport (just a bunch of
run-down buildings and a large field). Turn into the gate there
(left). I guess you're supposed to ask permission from the folks in
the trailer parked across from the old hanger complex...but we didn't
find anybody there...

It's probably shorter to take a ferry from Seattle...but
whatever...(see WA DeLorme Atlas page 62)

We flushed the birds along the fence line in the NW corner of the
large muddy field (on a slope with scotch broom).

Good luck!

By the way, what's the deal with these Quail. Is this a remnant
isolated population, or have they been introduced?
