Hi Yvonne,
This is an update to Starlings eating your suet. I purchased a cage at Wild
Birds Unl. that fits over a suet cage. The theory is you hang it from a tree
and the Starlings can't get to the suet. Unfortunately, the cage swings to
the side when a Starling lands on it and the suet basket inside lays against
the cage and viola! the Starling gets the suet. I took the cage turned it
upside down and affixed it to my deck railing. I hung the suet inside and
waited. The Starlings can still get to the suet *if* they hang on the side
of the cage and stick their heads in as far as they can. They can't hang on
long so this has frustrated them and slowed the consumption of my suet way
down. The crows completely leave the suet alone now. Maybe the Starlings
will get so frustrated with this setup that they'll eventually leave the suet
alone. One can only hope.
