Persistence pays off on the Big Island.
The Hawaiian owl (I forget the name) is
much more diurnal than on the mainland &
the Hawaiian hawk (forgot the name too!
maybe I'm not a birder) can also be seen
with persistence.

If you have a stopover on Oahu, drive to
the Turtle Bay Hilton on the North Shore,
sit out on the grassy lawn in back, and
(if the wind is right) Albatrosses will
come surfing across the waves and soar
within touching distance while you sip
you cold drink. This will make up for
all the times you've leaned over the rail
and "chummed" on pelagic voyages.
