The Washington BirdBox is a voice mailbox sponsored by the Washington
Ornithological Society. To leave a message about a notable sighting, or
to
listen to the 12 most recent messages, call (425) 454-2662 and follow the
prompts. First-time BirdBox users may find it convenient, before
calling,
to review the status of Washington's chickadee species.

8:28 p.m. 06-08-97: Hello, this is Scott Atkinson. I was up in central
Skagit County today. At the Corkindale power line crossing in the central
part of the county near Marble Mount: 1 EASTERN KINGBIRD, 1 WESTERN
KINGBIRD, and a large number of swallows, including six species, with at
least 5 BANK SWALLOWS. One pair of these BANK SWALLOWS, I might add, was
mating on a power line right along Route 20. Continuing northeast, at the
county line site near the Watson County sign, at least 3, and possibly 4,
AMERICAN REDSTARTS have returned to this area. And on nearby ??? [sounds
like Bacon] Creek: a female HARLEQUIN with four chicks. That's all.
Bye-bye.
