I've just returned from a trip to Creston, BC, from Vancouver. In the
Okanagon we have a "reliable" place to see Gray Flycatchers and I was lucky
enough to identify one to my satisfaction. The song was a dual "Cheerio"
missing the middle notes mentioned in most field guides. Only once did my
bird include the middle notes and they were pretty quiet.

One other contributing factor for identification; as you say "conspicuous
perch". From all I've heard and read, the best sightings seem to be for
birds sitting atop a tree.

Your notes are yet another source of information for trying to tell these
*****s apart. Thanks for sharing them.
