Sightings for Tuesday June 10

7 BRANDT, including two banded birds, were in the small marsh north of the
tollbooths at the Tsawwassen ferry terminal. Over 100 CASPIAN TERNS were
also at this location. A YELLOW-BILLED LOON in breeding plumage was far
offshore at Crescent Beach. Also seen were 2 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS and 2
OLDSQUAW. A WHIMBREL was on the north side of the Nicomeckel river.

In a late report for Monday, a WESTERN SANDPIPER, a SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, a
WILSON'S PHALAROPE and a BANK SWALLOW were on the SW pond at Iona. A
WESTERN KINGBIRD was on the Iona Causeway.

Sightings for Monday June 9

3 TURKEY VULTURES were seen over UBC. 8 BRANDT were in the small marsh on
the north side of the Tsawwassen ferry terminal. An EASTERN KINGBIRD was
along the Boundary Bay dike between 64th and 17A. A dozen Western
Sandpipers in breeding plumage and a dozen DUNLIN, also in breeding
plumage, were at the foot of 96th.

Sightings for Sunday June 8

A CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER was located this morning singing in a woodlot
north of University Hill Elementary School on Acadian Rd. in the U.B.C.
area. It was present from 9a.m. till about 2p.m. A Black-and-white
Warbler was also seen at this location.

A SOOTY SHEARWATER was seen from the end of the Iona South Jetty. 2
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were with CANADA GEESE on the Iona causeway and
3 male CANVSABACK were off the causeway. A WESTERN KINGBIRD was in the old
subdivision on Sea Island.

A BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE was seen at Wreck Beach. Previous sightings of this
bird in the checklist area have turned out to be escaped birds, so this
sighting is also suspect.

2 PURPLE MARTINS and 10 CASPIAN TERNS were at Blackie Spit.
