The first of the three 1997 eyasses fledged this morning. Yippee! It lost
hardly any altitude in its first flight, landing on virtually the same
floor from which it fledged, but around the corner. The other two young
seem to be healthy, strong, and are wing-flapping like crazy. Shouldn't be
long for them!

If you're downtown at all, or in buildings from which you can SEE
downtown, watch for these young Peregrines. And please call the hotline at
654-4423 if you see where a young one lands. They're easily lost to sight
at this time, and can sometimes get stuck in places-they-can't-get-out-of.

VERY brief history: This is Stewart's fourth year on the WAMU Tower;
Belle's third. Four eggs were laid, and three hatched.
