Concerning Bears and Feeders, about 4 or 5 years ago I found my feeders
on the ground. I thought raccoons had knocked them down until a week
later when I was looking out my window one morning in August. Sitting
in my garden was a very plump looking Black Bear. I live in the
Mukilteo area and so bears were not a common sight. This one was having
a terrific time pulling my tomatoes off the vines and eating them. This
bear was one of possibly two or three which had made the news in
Everett. It was eventually trapped and relocated. Since I work for
Wild Birds Unlimited I'll ask them how one would go about bear proofing
bird feeders.
