Hi Tweeters,

there is a monthly bird count in the Squamish river estuary (Squamish=
1h north of Vancouver B.C.). It is done with local volunteers and
(normally) some out-of-town birders are joining... and that's exactly the
point: this weekend they are short of moderately experienced birders.
So, if anybody from Vancouver or from further afield would like to spend
a morning birding in estuary habitat, Jim Wisnia in Squamish (604)
898-2000 would be happy to hear from you. It starts at 7am on Sunday
15/6, at the Brew Pub in downtown Squamish.
(I am, unfortunately or fortunately, off for the Stoltmann Wilderness
this weekend, and the dates of the next counts are not included in the
Discovery magazine of the Vancouver Nat.Hist.Society).
Species numbers at this time of the year are normally above 60,
including Eastern and Western Kingbirds.
