Tweets,
Yesterday while birding the lower reaches of Mt. Young on English Camp on
San Juan Is. I heard a ruffed Grouse drumming. When I checked two reliable
sources (one is Sharp and Lewis birding the San Juans), the satus of the
species is considered very rare to possibly extripated. Whenever
encountering a extremely unusual sighting I try to be sure beyond a doubt
and while I know of no other gallinaceous bird that drums, I was hoping
other tweeters might have suggestions.
Thanks for the help,
