The Washington BirdBox is a voice mailbox sponsored by the Washington
Ornithological Society. To leave a message about a notable sighting, or
to
listen to the 12 most recent messages, call (425) 454-2662 and follow the
prompts. First-time BirdBox users may find it convenient, before
calling,
to review the status of Washington's chickadee species.

9:45 p.m. 06-14-97: Hi, this is Dave Beaudette, 206-365-2083. Spent June
14th birding in Skagit County along SR 20 with Gary Bletsch. At the
Corkindale power line crossing [were] a pair of EASTERN KINGBIRDS, a pair
of BANK SWALLOWS, and an OSPREY. At the county line ponds in Skagit
County were 2 singing male AMERICAN REDSTARTS, a female AMERICAN REDSTART
on a nest, 2 singing HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHERS, 1 singing DUSKY FLYCATCHER,
and a nest of RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKERS. At the gravel pit below the Mt.
Hardy burn was a singing DUSKY FLYCATCHER. At the Mt. Hardy burn [were]
an immature GOLDEN EAGLE, a male RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER, 2 CLARK'S
NUTCRACKERS, and a male THREE-TOED WOODPECKER. Good luck.

11:26 p.m. 06-15-97: This is Rachel Lawson, 206-282-5593. On June 15th,
we went up to Knap [sp?] Flats off Tenaeum [sp?] Road and did see the
male WILLIAMSON'S SAPSUCKER there. Couldn't confirm breeding--we couldn't
stick around long enough, and didn't see the female--but the male was
certainly hanging around the big ponderosa snag. That's it.

2:59 p.m. 06-16-97: This is Jim Russell, 392-8440 in Issaquah, and the
HARLEQUIN DUCK that I reported on Saturday is still around--today's
Monday--so if anybody would like to see this, they can get in touch with
me and I can help them figure out where on Pine Lake to go. So, this is a
male HARLEQUIN DUCK on Pine Lake in Issaquah. Thanks.
