Hi,

I live on the Olympic peninsula, where most all of our squirrels are the
tiny Douglas ones. We have had complete success keeping them off a pole
feeder by using a 2-liter soda bottle. Punch a hole in the bottom, large
enough to fit the steel pole. Slip the bottle over the pole--right side up,
placing a grommet or a wrapping of tape to keep it from sliding down the
pole. The squirrels can't get a grip on the tapering neck of the bottle,
and aren't big enough to reach over it, so if it isn't near a tree which
they can jump from, the feeder is squirrel-proof. The price is right too.

Good luck,
