has anyone read the latest issue of scientific american (july
1997)? this issue has a small story about feral monk parakeets
and it debates whether they are a potential pest species. after
listing several characteristics that typical avian pest species
exhibit, it was decided that we just don't know yet.

this story described some of the more interesting traits that
monk parakeets exhibit, which are quite unusual for parrots, such
as; nest building and nest helpers.

this story appears on pp. 22-25, for those interested.
