I'm pretty sure that Belted Kingfishers nested/burrowed somewhere near
the Ballard Locks last year, but I've seen almost none this year until
today. A M/F pair were perched on a railing on the Magnolia side when a
third (I'm not sure of the sex) flew up and was very noisily chased away
by one of the pair. The chase went on for quite some time, while the
other Kingfisher retired to the trees nearby. It was a pretty cool sight
to see.
