The Washington BirdBox is a voice mailbox sponsored by the Washington
Ornithological Society. To leave a message about a notable sighting, or
to listen to the most recent messages, call (206) 454-2662 and follow
the prompts. First-time BirdBox users may find it convenient, before
calling, to review the status of Washington's chickadee species.

The Washington Ornithological Society would like to see the BirdBox
become a statewide aid to Birders. One of the reasons for this transcription
is as a service to those outside the local calling area and for people living
outside WA who are interested for whatever reason. We would like to offer an
email transcription service to anyone with a message for the BirdBox. (The
email will be placed as a phone message as well as an errorfree message on
the transcription). Send your message to halop at u.washington.edu with cc to
norton360 at aol.com and subplot at u.washington.edu (the cc are in case Hal
Opperman is out of town and the only cc really necessary is to whoever is
transcribing at the time you submit the message). Those active birders and
TWEETERS subscribers living outside the (206) area are requested to let their
non TWEETERS birding friends know this service is available and to offer to
post the message for them.

(My apologies to anyone whose name I have mangled. If anyone can supply
correct spellings of peoples names or place names, I am trying to keep a
list of correct spellings so those corrections would be appreciated).

9:20 AM, June 21 - Hello, this is Scott Atkinson. Yesterday, June 20 I was up
on San Juan Island. I had one very good sighting for San Juan County and that
was an Eastern Kingbird. The bird was at the southeast corner of the Argyle
Road just south of Friday Harbor. The site is also just southeast of the
airport, right there at the 90 degree turn of the Argyle Road. Also there was
an out of season Lesser Yellowlegs at the Anacortes Ferry Landing there at
Ship Harbor Marsh. That's all. Bye Bye.

4:26 PM, June 21 - John O'Connell, Camano Island (360) 387-2059. This morning
at 11:15 there was a flock of between 15 and 20 Black Swifts at the Stanwood
Sewage Ponds. Thanks.

4:20 PM, June 22 - Hi, this is Stephen Mlodinow. Today Nigel Ball, Casey(?)
Beechel(?) and I birded from Dungeness to Ft Flagler and in the 3 Crabs area
we had a couple of Mew Gulls, a couple of Red-breasted Mergansers with a
couple ot Brant. At the John Wayne Marina we had two Purple Martins. At Ft
Flagler we had 6 Heerman's Gulls and a Parasitic/Pomarine Jaeger. That's
about it. Good luck and good birding.

5:37 PM, June 22 - Hi, this is Stephen Mlodinow again. Just did the Port of
Everett and from the end of the boat launch area which is on 10th Street off
of Marine View Drive in Everett, there was an amazing 30 Arctic Terns today.
This seem to be an area where they may be nesting. They were carrying food in
and out. That area is off at about a 70 degree angle to your left as you're
off on the fishing pier. Also, there was an adult, well fed Peregrine Falcon
in the area. Good luck and good birding!
