Hi tweeters,

I just got a call from Bob Paine, of the UW Zoology Department, about some
quite unusual birds on Tatoosh Island this spring. On 4-5 June, they had a
singing Brewer's Sparrow, and on 22-23 June, a singing Blackpoll Warbler
and a Common Grackle. The latter was photographed. I'm sure these are good
records; Bob wrote the Brewer's Sparrow account for Bent's life histories,
and he is quite familiar with the other species from a long history in New
England. Not that Blackpoll Warblers and Common Grackles are difficult to
identify.....

Tatoosh probably comes closest to a "migrant trap" of anywhere in western
Washington, although I imagine Destruction Island would be even more so.
Too bad neither one is readily accessible.

I assume someone (Russell?) monitors this space for such records.
