3:00 p.m. 06-27-97: Hello, my name is Scott Coates. Phone number is
637-9523. Yesterday at about six p.m. I saw a RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER at the
Mercer Slough. The bird was in some tall trees just south of the south
Bellevue Park and Ride.

8:40 p.m. 06-27-97: Hi, this is Steven Mlodinow. This evening I birded
the port of Everett area. There were 10 ARCTIC TERNS present from the end
of 13th Street. The report of 30 that I gave earlier may have involved an
unknown amount of COMMON TERNS, as I've not been able to see more than
ten Arctics since then. So there's a possibility that there were some
Commons passing through on this somewhat unusual mid-summer date. In any
case, there are at least 10 ARCTIC TERNS present, and they can be seen
from the end of 13th Street. There was also a BLUE GOOSE in with some
Canadas on Jetty Island as well. At the foot of Forest Park where you can
look out onto the Sound, there was my first inner-Sound HEERMAN'S GULL of
the summer. Beware--here comes El Nino. Good luck and good birding.

12:11 p.m. 06-28-97: Hi, this is Steve Mlodinow. I birded around Everett
again today. At Spencer Island, on the east side of the island toward the
northern tip, there were 2 EASTERN KINGBIRDS. There were also 4
GREEN-WINGED TEAL present on the island and about a hundred BLACK SWIFTS
over the island first thing in the morning. At the Everett Sewage Pond,
there was a WIGEON with two young, about 10 SHOVELER, and about 14 more
GREEN-WINGED TEAL. There was also a PURPLE MARTIN overhead and a
SHARP-SHINNED HAWK. At the Everett waterfront at the end of 13th Street,
there's a barge parked obscuring your view of the island, so I didn't see
any ARCTIC TERNS. The BLUE GOOSE, or BLUE-SNOW intergrade, is still
present on Jetty Island viewable today from the... boat... Anyway,
continuing on, the BLUE GOOSE was viewable from opposite Anthony's on
Jetty Island. That's it. Good luck and good birding.

1:53 p.m. 06-28-97: Hello, this is Patrick Sullivan, along with Ruth
Sullivan, at area code 206-564-7419. A rewarding birding expedition, with
photographs for documentation, to north central Washington produced the
following highlights: 5 BOREAL CHICKADEES and 1 NORTHERN THREE-TOED
WOODPECKER along Forest Road 39 south of Long Swamp in Okanagan County on
June 15th; a pair of CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS on Cameron Lake Road east of
Omak on June 16th; breeding NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH and AMERICAN REDSTARTS
were noted along the west fork of the San Poil River in Okanagan and
Ferry Count[ies] on June 17th and 18th; 1 LEAST FLYCATCHER observed 3
miles north of Krueger Lake State Park on June 19th, 20th, and 24th; 10
FLAMMULATED OWLS, heard only, along ??? [could not understand word] Creek
Road in Okanagan County; 1 breeding pair of GREAT GRAY OWLS with 1 owlet
near Havilla on June 21st through 23rd; 5 GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS on Cameron
Lake Road on June 24th and 25th; and 1 pair of BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS
at Riverside State Park on June 25th and 26th. Thank you. Good luck and
