This could be more than annoying but relatively harmless spam. I recently
read an article (sorry, I couldn't locate it to get my facts straight)
about offers to download free software which result in some slimeball
getting access to your hard drive for nefarious purposes, the exact nature
of which I disremember. I do remember that it impressed me as serious stuff
(I'm not paranoid, they're out to get me...)
