Hi Tweets,
Please forgive if this is a duplicate of Toby Andrew's post, but in the
event he's not subbed to Tweeters I'll pass on his message.
After the Common Eider disappeared from the Kitsilano-Spanish Banks area and
went unreported for a couple of weeks, I thought it might have either 1.)
completely left the checklist area, or 2.) was continuing its following of
the shoreline contour, in which case the next place to look would have been
Iona Island's offshore from one of the jetties. I had resigned myself to
never knowing whether this idea was workable until Toby sent the following
email, which I happily pass on to the rest of the list.
Toby Andrews writes:
>I did locate the Eider along with the huge raft
>of Scoters along the south side of the Iona jetty.
>This was my sixth attempt
(snip)
>The raft at
>Iona was very easily spotted and from your description
>knew the Eider had to be in thjs group. It took about ten
>minutes to find.
Cheers
