I just want to reiterate what Hal Opperman said in his message about Great
Greys perching low to the ground. Last winter while looking
(unsuccessfully) for the Great Grey that was in
the Vancouver, B.C. area, we ran into a birder who had been finding it
daily, and he told us that it perched a meter or less from the
ground. I had never heard that before.

I went and saw one of the skagit county birds last winter, and each time I
went and found it it was perching low to the ground. (First time 1.5
meter, second time .5 meter.)

I wonder how many Great Greys I've been
missing all these years by looking up in the tops of the trees! :)
