Hi Tweets,

I have received a few requests to keep Tweets informed of "bird "
happenings off the Vancouver Bird Alert.

Since short hand wasn't one of the required courses when I went to school I
will send an abridged version of Monday's tape.

John Kalman is the present compiler.

Sightings for Monday, March 3.

Four Bohemian Waxwings were seen on 64th, south of 34B feeding in Pacific
Crab Apple trees.

Two Greater white-fronted geese were reported with a flock of Canada's at
Maslin Creek in Glen Valley east of Fort Langley.

A Short-eared Owl was reported from Boundary Bay Regional Park.

Sunday, March 2.

23 Snowy Owls were counted at the foot of 64th at Boundary Bay along with a
Rough-legged Hawk.

Three Snow Buntings were seen on the Iona South Jetty. One bird appears
molting into alternate plummage.

>From the end of the Jetty were 8,000 Surf Scoters, 175 Black Scoters, 142
White-winged Scoters, 215 Oldsquaw and 3 Eurasian Widgeon, (allas NO Common
Eider).

The area's first reported Rufous Hummingbird was in the 14900 block of 24th
in south Surrey.

An Eared Grebe was sighted off the White Rock Pier.

A large flock of 75 to 100 Tree Swallows was observed (yours truly) over
the ponds at Minnekada Park.

There was a reminder that the VNHS Birder's Night was this Thursday at St,
Matthias Anglican Church, 680 W. 49th Ave. at 7:30 P.M. Everyone is
welcome.

This isn't verbatum but hopefully will impart the highlights.

Good Birding
