To those readers who might be new to Tweeters and perhaps dismayed, take
heart - this too will pass. As Don Baccus pointed out, it happens about
once a year: volume of mail gets out of hand, tempers simmer, people who
want to unsubscribe but can't remember how complain to the other readers
as if it were their fault (just wait!) - but then in a week or two, things
settle down, tweeters reemerges all the better for having thrashed it out,
and when someone mentions "the cat thread" or "shade grown coffee" or
"women in birding," people just chuckle knowingly without feeling the urge
to post six messages a day about it. An amazing majority of tweeters
contributors (and all the regular posters) are civil, good-humored and
articulate and love birds, and that always wins out in the end. If you
can't take it, check back in two or three weeks.
