I always regret it when I read the Seattle Times too thoroughly...
Tonights edition had a story on: "Researcher transplants quail behavior
into chicken... Brain cells were grafted; the chicken began to sing".

Not to worry; in 20 yrs when most of our songbirds have disappeared, we
could have chickens returning to our yards in February playing the
Harbinger to Spring role.

Oh, yeah, I um, also saw a Robin today :)
