Last night, I viewed a Great Horned Owl close up (far closer than
ever before!) near the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho. It's in the trees
just north of the large parking lot, close to where the pavement lot
becomes a gravel lot.
We observed it for about five minutes at dusk, watching its chest
heave as it puffed out its hoots. We were rewarded (and so was he/she!)
in a minute by a response from another owl, which seemed to be near the
Hartung Theatre. It was a huge bird and seemed to be in quite good
health--worth a stop if you're near the Kibbie Dome sometime! :)
