Len Steiner and I did our monthly survey of the Snoqulamie valley birds this
morning, Thur.. First time sightings since we started in Sept. were: two
Snow Geese in a flock of about 100 Canada's in a field east of Carnation
Farms; one White-breasted Nuthatch at Carnation Golf Course; two Violet-green
Swallows flying over Sikes L.; and one Sharp-shinned Hawk that disappeared
into some blackberry bushes after a small bird. We never did see it come
out. We had a total of 35 species for the morning including nine Bald Eagles
and six Red-tailed Hawks. Also of note, this is the first time we did not
see any Mourning Doves at the Carnation Farms overlook.
