I like to observe the species who are in residence. For instance, the other
day a House finch was singing his heart out on the phone wires near the
house. A Mockingbird swooped in and began stealing his thunder, so to
speak. The finch sang louder and louder until he'd reach his maximum, only
to be outsung by the Mocker. Finally, after straining his head as far as
his neck would allow, he gave up and flew across the street to a less busy post.
