Hal,
As a regular consumer of the BirdBox and as one of the transcribers,
(Help Wanted, We could use more - advertisement) I agree with all the
improvements you suggest. I particularly like the idea of allowing chickadee
challenged (CC) persons listen and CC persons to leave messages that would be
screened before being put on. I worry not only about the obscene messages but
the person who gets on and enthuses at great lengths (which I feel forced to
transcribe) about the antics of a chickadee in their yard or how magnificent
the eagle was. Call me an elitist but I do think you have to put some sort of
filter on since the message space and callers time and budget (for those
calling long distance) is limited. Of course, you can keep punching 3 until
you do find something interesting. It is like the delete button on Tweeters
which on some days I use liberally and others I read everything.
Those two features would make access much easier and allow more general
access, yet keep the system from getting clogged .
