-------Hi, fellow birders! If you have a teen, or are a teen that is
interested in birdwatching, or just wildlife in general, I have the class for
you or your kid. John Friars is teaching a class for this audience. He is a
Master Birder with the Seattle Audubon Society. As well as the trip leader
that got me really excited about birds! I Jason Coughlin-Starfire will be
assiting him. Here is the add for the class that was was printed in the
recently released Earthcare Northwest (SAS's newsletter). The class will be
held at the Center for Urban Horticulture at the UW.

---------There is a pattern in the lives of many of our well known
naturalists and "world class" birders--most of them started birding in their
teens. For many, their early knowledge and skills were self-taught. Now
there's an alternative. If you 're a teenager and want learn more about this
exciting field, here's a running start jor you! We'll be covering basic
birding techniques, equipment and field guide selectoin and bird
identification skills. Each session well be split between the classroom and
acual field birding a nearby locaton. Dont't buy binoculars of field guides,
but if you have them, bring them along. Limited to 16 students, age 13-19
only. Jason Starfire, an excellent birder from Shorewood Highschool, will
assist.---------
