The Great Gray was seen at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The best way to find
the bird is ask at the comfort station near the "Big Ring." The lady in
charge of the building generally knows when the horse riders have seen the
bird and where. Get a map of the park behind the gate at the park
entrance.
Today the bird was off a trail that starts at the horse ring nearest to
the parking lot and heads southeasterly. Go 840 paces up this trail and
you will come to a trail off to the right. You are now heading south.
Take the next trail to the right, which heads down hill to the SW. The owl
was about half way down the trail. It flew between this trail and the 2nd
trail on the right. It flew several times, waiting 1-5 minutes between
each sally. Tis a beautiful bird. Very tame.
Apparently the snowy owl hasn't been seen for a few days.
