Hi tweets

Thanks to all who sent posts regarding the Hawk Owl in Cheney. I know
there has been a more recent report, but I wanted to encourage anyone
debating about seeing this bird to go ahead and take the plunge.

I spent three hours walking around the EWU campus last Friday. Several
students told me that the owl has seemed to prefer a deciduous tree
directly in front of the library, in the same general area where a number
of tweeters have reported it. I finally saw it there when a crow literally
pointed it out to me my sixth or seventh time through this area. (The crow
was staring down at the owl two limbs below him.) The owl, as others have
mentioned, was extremely cooperative, and a joy to study. A very striking
bird. The day was very windy and I had no luck with other species that had
been reported. Still, the drive back to the Portland area went by quickly.

Cheers,

Tim
