Hi tweeters:
I just got back from an almost birdless cross-country skiing weekend near
Lake Wenatchee. Unbeliveably the 1st bird we actually saw and heard was a
female White-headed Woodpecker. It was flying from tree to tree near the
Plain church just off the Wenatchee River (T26N R17E NE Section 12). The
bird was vocalizing almost the whole time. It seems a little far west but I
imagine their winter range is wider than their summer (?). Other birds of
note- 1 Hairy Woodpecker, a flock of 10 Common Ravens, 16 Pine Siskins on
the White River (T28N R16E SW ).
