In response to the question of Hummingbird solutions, my information
tells me that a 4 parts water to 1 part sugar solution is best.
Bring it just to a boil and then cool before filling your feeder. Do
not use red food coloring. Studies are inconclusive as to what affect
these colorings have on hummingbirds. The same with the prepared
nectars. I have used them all and have found the sugar/water mixture
to have the best results. If you have no color on your feeder try
tying red ribbons to them or around them to attract the birds. The
main thing about feeding hummingbirds is to keep your feeders clean
and change the solution frequently, around every three days even if it
is not used. Change it more frequently in hot weather.
