This is a posting that might interest Tweeters in the N.
Seattle/Everett, WA area, others hit delete.

For two years I have been informally counting Osprey nest sites and
reporting to WSDF&W. This year the agency has expressed an interest
in establishing a more complete monitoring program for Osprey, D.C.
Cormorants, and other species in the Snohomish River estuary. There
will be a meeting next Monday evening, March 17, at 7pm at the
Pilchuck Audubon Office in downtown Everett with a couple of the
agency biologists and those that would like to participate. We expect
to figure out how many players there will be, what the protocol will
be, review available maps, aerial photos, etc. They are hoping to get
counts at least every two weeks from April through September,
including records of breeding success, nest predation, interaction
with other species, etc.

The PAS office is at 1803 Hewitt Ave #108 (corner of Hewitt and
Rockefeller, entrance around corner on Rockefeller). R & C birders
and coffee drinkers welcome.

This river estuary is a beautiful and fecund area. The intertidal
areas of Smith Island, North Spencer Island and North Ebby Island are
mostly zoned light industrial. There is a proposal for 8 ball fields
and 25 soccer fields for North Spencer before the Port Commission
right now. I am confident that the data we collect on the biological
diversity of this area will be useful and necessary in habitat
conservation efforts in the very near future. We have already pretty
much lost the Caspian Tern nesting colony and small Arctic Tern
nesting activity here due to waterfront development. I hope there are
a few Tweeters in this area that can help with this effort.
