Dear tweeters,

In the past two weeks I've been often at Hopkins Nursery at 100th NE in
Bothell. It's a lovely ramshackle place with good prices on fertile manure
(hemlock shavings and horse poop). I've spotted a Killdeer and a California
Quail on the grounds of the nursery plus a Red-tail Hawk in a huge tree. The
Killdeer and Quail sightings were especially meaningful for me because I had
long wondered if either of these species had survived Windemere's paving of
the Eastside.

Best,
Wallis Bolz

P.S. Right now I wish a Red-tail Hawk would carry bad sofa-scratching cat
away!
