I appreciate the very well-spoken words about the Names subject from most
of the postings as well as the private posts. And thanks to those who did
not take it as a personal attack when I said "squaw" is offensive, even if
its users don't mean to be offensive. And for those who took the trouble
to look up the word, I'm impressed.

As a beginner birder, I'm still looking forward to seeing these birds for
the first time. My vote is for long-tailed duck. Many people already seem
to be using it. However, if I list it, I might just list it as the
Calluthumpian thing, which has quite a ring to it.
