Dear Tweeters,

Someone commented a while back that they didn't understand how "we"
kept perpetuating the myth of Snowy Owl invasions being a result of
lemming population crashes. My response is: "here's how" -

Terrie I. Murray wrote in the April 1997 issue of WildBird that Snowy
Owl invasions are due to lemming population crashes (page 9). This
author also gives reference to Dan Victor's website, and uses a Don
Baccus photo (I hope you guys received some kind of compensation).
I feel it is in our collective interest to let WildBird and Terrie I.
Murray
know that we don't appreciate inaccurate reporting. The e-mail address
of WildBird's executive director, John Hollon, is: jhollon at fancypubs.com

Also, Jean Godden of the Seattle Times incorrectly reported in
yesterday's issue that in Peregrine Falcons: "females are somewhat
smaller than the male". Let's give her an education. Her phone number,
as listed at the end of her column in the Local Section, is 464-8300.
