11:58 a.m. 03-20-97: Hi, my name is Kim Jones. The number is
206-431-1524. In the White Center area of Seattle, I spotted a color
mutation in a crow. It was actually a mocha color--very sandy, shades of
sand to ivory all over its body--looks like a dark eye pupil, and a
brownish beak. Obviously, it was not an albino, but it was truly the most
fascinating crow I have ever seen! Anyway, it was flying around with
another crow, a black one, and I have seen them collecting sticks for
nesting in the area, so it might be a mated pair. I'm going to try to
keep an eye on it, and I'll report any other sightings of it. If anyone's
interested, feel free to call me. Bye bye.

11:53 a.m. 03-21-97: This is Kim Jones calling again in response to
yesterday's message that I left. I was told that I did not leave the
location where I spotted the crow that was a mocha/sand color. This was
in White Center, at White Center Park [in Seattle]. It's right on the
corner of 15th and 102nd SW. It was in the northwest corner of the fence
right next to the tennis court. And again, if anyone has any questions,
my number is 206-431-1524.

12:01 p.m. 03-21-97: This is Bill Shelmerdine, Olympia Washington,
866-9106. This morning at Nisqually NWR, at the twin barns area, there
was what I believe to be a ROSS'S GOOSE. This bird has been around
apparently for about a month. And there's been some speculation as to
whether this could be a hybrid, but it sure looks good to me. Also in the
area, there was a NORTHERN SHRIKE, EURASIAN WIGEON, a couple of
WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, and quite a few other birds around. Good luck and

8:07 a.m. 03-22-97: Alan Grinnon, 323-3979. Yesterday, on the 21st, the
SNOWY OWL on the church at 16th and Denny [in Capitol Hill in Seattle]
was still there at about 4:30 and again at about 5:00. And of course
VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS are back in the neighborhood today.
