During the course of a hike up Cedar Butte today (in North Bend near the
watershed), I saw a male Rufous Hummingbird working the recently
blooming Salmonberry thickets. Haven't had any at the feeder as yet.

The other noteworthy birdin' event was an airshow by an Osprey I saw
while coming down the butte through a selective cut. Soaring at around
4000ft, he would suddenly drop into a long dive for 1000ft or so, then
pull up and slowly gain altitude again. Before each dive he would let
out several whistling type calls. Perhaps he was practicing his fishing
skills, or, just having fun.
