Sightings for Monday March 24

The MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were at Colony Farm again today. When visiting
Colony Farm, birders are asked to stay on the dikes. The fields contain
very sensitive habitat and we are trying to encourage the general public to
stay on the dikes. Please therefore lead by example. An Immature GYRFALCON
was 4 blocks East of Kerr on 54th ave in Vancouver. Two AMERICAN TREE
SPARROWS were on the north side of the Scotch Pond slough which is just
north of Garry Point in Richmond. About 60 HARLEQUIN DUCKS were East of the
breakwater at Point Roberts in a large mixed flock of diving ducks.

In late report from Sunday, 2 male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS and a VIOLET-GREEN
SWALLOW were at the UBC botanical gardens.

Sightings for Sunday March 23

On a Vancouver Natural History Society field trip to Boundary Bay regional
park, more than 1000 BRANT were on the bay and a SHORT-EARED OWL and a
SAVANNAH SPARROW were in the park. A VIRGINIA RAIL was calling in the pond
near the gravel parking lot. The spring arrival NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED
SWALLOW was over the inner ponds at Iona. An AMERICAN KESTRAL was in
Tsawwassen east of 56th street at 4th Ave. RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS were at
Campbell Valley Park and in the wood lot at Ferguson Rd and sea island
causeway on Sea Island. A BARRED OWL and a HUTTON'S VIREO were at Pacific
Spirit Park and 2 EURASIAN WIGEON were at Jericho Park. 35 pairs of
RING-NECKED DUCKS were at Cheam Lake regional park.

Sightings for Saturday March 22

The spring arrival BARN SWALLOW was at Serpentine Fen. 3 spring arrival
TURKEY VULTURES were soaring very high over South Surrey. The birds were
seen from Serpentine Fen and were so high that they were not visible to the
naked eye. Also at Serpentine Fen were 200 - 300 Violet Green Swallows and
a SAVANNAH SPARROW. 2 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were at Colony Farm. The birds
were on a fence line to the east of the second tower in from Mary Hill road.
2 HUTTON'S VIREOS were at Burns bog near the Nature house and an AMERICAN
DIPPER was in the stream that empties into the Fraser river under the Alex
Fraser bridge. An AMERICAN TREE SPARROW and a YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was on
the north side of the Scotch Pond slough which is just north of Garry Point
in Richmond. 2000 BRANT were on Boundary Bay and 1500 birds were off Lily
Point at Point Roberts.

In a Late report from Friday, 2 Short-eared Owls were at Boundary Bay Park
and a Bald Eagle was seen taking a juvenile Brant in Boundary Bay.
