To Burke in BC:
Burke asked in a personal reply about seeing Sage Sparrows and
White-headed Woodpeckers in Eastern Washington. I accidently hit
'delete' on my way to replying, so have to go public:
White-headed Woodpeckers can be found regularly (but not invariably)
in the Methow in the Pondersosa forests- which begin at about 2000'
here and still have 1-4' of snow- so bring skis or snowshoes. Sage
Sparrows "have seldom been seen in the Okanogan" (fm 'Birds of the
Okanogan'). I imagine if you are willing to drive to Wenatchee and
points south you'll find some- ask Jerry Tangren or Andy
Stepnowski....
