I am having trouble identifying a bird that I saw at the Mima Mounds
Natural Area in Thurston County.
Description:
.Striped Head
.yellow throat and breast, fading to white towards the torso
.greyish brown wings, and back
.about the size of a robin, but fatter
.the eye is situated in a white stripe that runs from the beak to the
posterior of the head
.approx one in. straight beak

I have: "A Field Guide to the Cascades & Olympics" by Stephen R. Whitney,
and the closest species I could find was the Red breasted Nuthatch, but the
color markings of the breast were different, and this birds seemed larger.
One definite is that it was not a meadowlark.
