Our class made a show of foraging for grades k-3.
Some exibits (tables) showed different kinds of foraging.
For example, one of the tables used an envelope with a raisin
and someone working at the table would throw the raisin and the person
with the envelope would try and catch it in the air. Another table was
showing how woodpeckers would eat. The kids used sticks and some
cardboard and made holes and they tried to get the gummi bears on the
other side.
Another table used peanuts and nutcrackers to show how seed-eating beaks
work. The kids would use the nutcrackers to open the peanuts (with out
using their hands) and pick it up with the nutcracker, put it in their
hand & eat it. Another group used juice and a straw to show how humming-
birds beaks work. The kids would take the straw in their mouth, fly to
the cup of juice, put the straw in it and drank it while flapping their
arms (wings).
