Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This recording
was made Thursday March 27. If you have anything to add call Harry nehls at

The KING EIDER continues to be seen on the north side of Yaquina Bay just
downstream from the highway bridge in Newport.

The BLUE JAY coming to a feeder in the Cascade Park section of Vancouver,
Washington continues to be seen. The BLUE JAY and MOCKINGBIRD was found
again March 22 in the central Oregon town of Moro. SCRUB and STELLER'S
JAYS, and HAIRY and DOWNY WOODPECKERS were also seen in Moro.

A MOCKINGBIRD was found March 21 at the corner of 2d and Easy Street in
Brookings, on the southern Oregon coast. Three RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS were
observed along Oceanview Drive south of Brookings.

The EMPEROR GOOSE is still at Hunter Creek, south of Gold Beach. A third
year plumaged GLAUCOUS GULL was at Bandon March 22. Two WANDERING TATTLERS
were on the rocks at Cape Arago March 23.

A ROSS' GOOSE and a TRUMPETER SWAN were in the meadows east of Florence
during the week. Nearby a second year plumaged GLAUCOUS GULL was at
Cushman. A breeding plumaged PALM WARBLER was along the nature trail at the
Marine Science Center at Yaquina Bay March 21. Five WHIMBREL were there
March 24. The ROSS' GOOSE continues to be seen on the Nestucca Meadows near
Pacific City.

Migrant CASPIAN TERNS were reported from many coastal points during the
week, and migrant ALEUTIAN CANADA GEESE were reported from Bandon, Siletz
Bay, and Nestucca Meadows. A first winter plumaged GLAUCOUS GULL was at the
South Jetty of the Columbia River March 22.

COMMON YELLOWTHROATS moved into the Willamette Valley during the week. A
BARN SWALLOW was with a swallow swarm over McFadden Marsh in Finley NWR
March 22. The wintering BLACK PHOEBE is still at the Peoria Bible Church
southeast of Corvallis.

A ROSS' GOOSE remains near the end of Royal Avenue on the east side of Fern
Ridge Reservoir west of Eugene. Three REDHEADS and the WHITE PELICAN are
still on Kirk Pond near Fern Ridge Dam. A YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was at
the reservoir March 23.

A large migratory flock of RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS was at Toketee, east of
Roseburg March 20. The next day over 100 ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS were there.

A pair of RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS were at the mouth of the Deschutes River
and a CASPIAN TERN was over the Columbia River near The Dalles March 20. A
large movement of ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS and male HARRIERS passed through
Central Oregon last week-end.

Up to 50 TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS were at Painted Hills National Monument
March 22. Four GREATER SCAUP were on a farm pond near Antone in Wheeler
County March 23.
