Near Brewster, where Okanogan R. meets Columbia, there is a very
unusual coot. Its head is mostly white, and body is splotchy white
and grey. So far we have been unable to get close for a photo, but
will keep trying. Where Hgwy. 97 and l9 meet, there is a weigh
station. Across the road you can pull off in a driveway to two homes.
Coot is in a large flock, fairly close to shore. Bird was first seen by
